London United-Harefield Academy inaugurated their campaign in the U-18 National League from a hard fought victory against Reading Rockets 99-83
In the first half London United tried a quite unique approach to defence by not playing it at all. The untroubled Reading players easily scored from all kind of positions and only good outside shooting allowed United to hold onto a slender one point lead by the end of the 1st quarter. In the second half the situation changed quite radically, Matt De Haan sparked aggressive defence which led to numerous steals which were converted to points and finished expertly by Andy Tamayo, Ryan Noel and Kenneth Kwame Nyameke. Spanish forward Andy Tamayo celebrated his debut in junior competitions in England by leading all scorers with 30 points grabbing 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
