London United Community Programme: The kids and the coaches

Throughout its history London United has always demonstrated a strong commitment to building community links through its contacts with a large number of educational establishments. The Club understands that the key to the successful achievement of its aims depends to a large extent upon its involvement with local communities, and during the last eight years, the Club has worked with over a hundred Primary and Secondary Schools in the Greater London area.

In addition to this, London United has started to roll out its new Hope thru Hoops Community Programme which is designed to bring sporting activities to deprived communities and which also offers under-privileged youngsters the opportunity to gain basic sports coaching qualifications through its programme of Coaching Courses called Creating Coaches 4 Kids.

THE CURRENT PROGRAMME…

At the present time the grass roots work of London United is embedded within the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Richmond, Hounslow, Wandsworth and Kingston, as well as the adjoining District of Spelthorne in Surrey where we provide basketball coaching in a number of Primary and High Schools. Our services include the running of After School Basketball Clubs, half-term and summer holiday basketball camps called Holiday Hoops Camps and block coaching sessions in schools. The Club provides fully qualified and CRB checked coaches and prides itself on their punctuality, professionalism, knowledge and dedication. We are mainly able to provide high quality basketball coaching, but we can provide athletics and health and fitness coaching as well.

THE FUTURE…

London United have a vision to extend their community work beyond schools into local communities where an involvement in sport can make a difference in the lives of young people; where the skills of commitment, self-discipline and dedication to hard work can be learnt through the pleasure and enjoyment of a game of basketball. By providing a structured Junior Programme for children as young as Under 10 through to the Youth Programme delivered by the Academy and beyond, we hope then to be able to attract young people from the Community Programme into the Club where they can follow a path of personal development to ensure that they achieve to their full potential.

We are very confident that we can provide highly professional and entertaining coaching sessions for all levels of skills. If you would like more information on our coaching services, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
